In Case of Inclement Weather
Reminder: Excelsior Classical Academy follows Durham Public Schools in delays and closures, except in rare, announced cases. DPS and surrounding school districts consult the National Weather Service, local weather forecasters, and area law enforcement, and they drive the district bus routes to help make their decisions. Excelsior follows the weather forecasts, and we observe what surrounding districts are doing, but we do not have a staff large enough to have dedicated departments such as districts do. We rely on their expertise and the information that they have access to.
We disseminate information on delays and closures through various media. We send BrightArrow notifications to the family contacts in PowerSchool. Excelsior posts on WRAL-TV 5, our website, our Facebook page and group, and Instagram. Please be patient. It takes time to make a decision and get all the notices out, but we do it as quickly as we can.
