Rising grade 9 students were given their Registration Document before spring break, and for absent students, parents were contacted via email.  Documents given to students included course recommendations to be reviewed with Parent/Guardian. We would like for requests to be completed, signed and returned back to school  to locked black boxes near rooms 165, 232 and 316 by Thursday,  April 11.  Teachers may also collect and notify Mrs. Sebring they have some for pick-up.  Rising grade 9 students will have their requests entered into PowerSchool by counselors, so it’s very important students return their Registration Document. There is a place on the bottom of the Registration Doc. -page 1- for families to indicate their child will not be returning. Knowing which students are planning to withdraw helps us a great deal as we plan for next year’s master schedule.

Rising grades 10-12 will receive their Registration Document with noted teacher recommendations on April 8 and they have 3 days in which they need to enter/register their requests in PowerSchool using the HowToRegister guide  and then to return their Registration document. PowerSchool will be closed to student entry at that time and students in rising grades 10-12 without inputted requests will have selections made by their counselor.

All students are required to request 8 classes (4 cores- English, math, science and social studies) + 4 desired or required electives +  2 alternates. Upperclassmen with jobs, Durham Technical Community College (DTCC/CCP) classes or other specific circumstances may fill the 8 period complement with our placeholder ‘Non-Reporting’ course. Any student not on campus for the full eight period academic day must have a parent completed Early Release/Late Arrival form at the start of the school year. (All students must be enrolled at least half time, and athletes should consult the AD about academic eligibility.) If students drive to campus, we need a Driving Waiver completed by a parent each school year. If students arrive or leave campus on foot, a Parent signed Walking Waiver is required. Please ask your counselor for these documents at the start of the school year.

Courses with low interest will not be kept on the master schedule, and students’ core classes (English, math, science & social studies), plus required ECA electives, will be prioritized when Course Request Lists are populated into the master schedule.

Any students in rising grades 9-12 with demonstrated academic ability level (B average minimum) desiring an online, North Carolina Virtual Public School/NCVPS class not offered at ECA must indicate the class on their registration document and complete a linked ECA e-Learning Contract 24-25. Students must meet eligibility requirements stated on the Registration Document.
