Megan Shaw’s Biography
I am a Durham native. I graduated from Appalachian State University with a degree in Communications Electronic Media/Broadcasting in 2013. I then spent 2 years as an au pair in Mayo, Ireland. I came back to Durham and became a teacher’s assistant at my old elementary/middle school, Immaculata Catholic School. I was a 3rd grade TA for 2 years then moved up to 5th grade as a TA last year, while getting my Master’s of Arts in Teaching at North Carolina State University. I received my Master’s in May 2019, and am now certified to teach middle school social studies and language arts.
I love travelling and learning about new cultures! I try to go back to Ireland at least once a year. My favorite part of traveling is meeting people from different countries and learning about their cultures. I hope to share this love of learning about the world with my students. I just came back from my yearly visit to Ireland where I also visited Prague and Berlin.
I am a huge fan of sports and coached basketball and soccer for the past three years. I am a big Duke fan and a fan of my mom’s hometown team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
I love going to Durham Bulls games, trivia nights and game nights with my friends.
I am so excited to be a part of the ECA family!!
