Mary Johnson’s Biography
I was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina, and spent much of my young adult life pursuing degrees at different institutions in North Carolina – undergraduate degree in Psychology at Queens, master’s degrees in Psychology and Elementary Education from East Carolina University, and a doctorate in Developmental Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I guess you could say I like school. After my doctorate, my partner, son and I pursued another interest, exploring different locations and climates. This journey included living six years on a remote island off the coast of Washington State. This journey also included 12 years in Vermont where I spent 11 of those years teaching or supporting students in grades K-8. This included serving as a Tier II Interventionist for grades 1-3, a K-8 math interventionist, a 4th-grade teacher, a 5-6 virtual math and science teacher, and a 5-8 math teacher.
