Eva Lukacs Frichner’s Biography
I am so grateful to get to work at Excelsior! I started my higher education at UNC-Asheville and ended up with a Biology degree. I have always loved science (except Chemistry, just couldn’t wrap my brain around this one). I worked in a laboratory and soon after realized that I needed to work with people and not their specimens so after a bit of detour by way of Alaska and Lake Tahoe, I finally made it back to the east coast to get a masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology at App State. I knew immediately that speech pathology was going to be perfect for me. It’s science and I get to work with people! After graduating, I worked in the medical side such as hospitals, rehab and nursing homes. Something didn’t feel right again and I realized that I needed to make a change. That’s when I started working in the schools and early intervention in the home health setting and working only with the pediatric population. I was in love! Working with kids is the most amazing job. They are so honest and genuine, make me laugh and lift my spirits every day!
In other news…I am originally from Transylvania Romania of Hungarian heritage. My family lived in Western NY for most of my young life. I now call North Carolina home and love it, especially the mild winters. I live in Durham with my husband and our two cats, Fred and Ginger. I love to be outside, anything in nature, gardening, cooking, science fiction movies and learning about health and spirituality.
