One of the science biographies in Sixth Grade Core Knowledge is of Lewis Howard Latimer (1848-1928). Latimer worked with Alexander Graham Bell on drawings of Bell’s invention, the telephone, and improved Thomas Edison’s light bulb. Latimer also designed a number of his own inventions, including an improved railroad car bathroom and an early air conditioning unit.
