Mark Porlides Biography
I’m originally from Tampa, Florida, and received both my B.A. (2012) and M.A. (2015) from The University of South Florida. I am currently a PhD candidate specializing in ancient Greek and Roman history, society, and war at UNC Chapel Hill, where I’ve taught a variety of courses in Ancient, Medieval, and Early Modern history. After relocating to North Carolina to work on my doctorate, I gained extensive experience in both university teaching and personalized tutoring. Passionate about making history engaging and accessible, I am excited to inspire my students at Excelsior Academy. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading sci-fi and fantasy novels, spending time at the beach, attending live music, and playing tabletop games.
